The Factiousness of the Hebrew Roots Movement
“But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you shut off the kingdom of heaven from people; for you do not enter in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.” Matthew 23:13 (NASB95) The lies and half-truths of the devil are insidious and sneaky. Just as the serpent beguiled Eve in the Garden, so he still desires to do so today. One way his deception gains traction is when it is given a platform of popularity manifested in groups of religious movements known as cults. One such platform that has gained popularity enabling the devil’s half-truths is commonly called the Hebrew Roots movement. This group…

So You Want to be Muslim?
“God, make me to be a Christian witness to the Muslims around the world, however you would see fit.” It was the year 2006 in Phoenix, Arizona. My wife, my infant son, and I had traveled across the country to a pastor’s conference where we were asked to fill out a card with a prayer request concerning a dream that we had in our hearts for ministry. I can remember vividly the desire in my heart as I wrote the words of this big prayer on that card and dropped it into the basket, expectantly waiting for what the Lord might unfold for us in the future. Fast forward to the year 2015…I…

Wicca: Part 3 – Practices, Rituals, and Ceremonies
A Compelling Question In the eighth chapter of Isaiah, God speaking through the prophet asks this question, “When they say to you, ‘Consult the mediums and the spiritists who whisper and mutter,’ should not a people consult their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living?” Isaiah 8:19 (NASB95) As we have been dissecting Wicca through this series of posts (Wicca: Part 1 – Rise of the Witches and Wicca: Part 2 – The Craft Explained), this verse in Isaiah becomes a compelling one – Why do people choose to seek this form of false religion instead of a relationship with the One True God? In other words, how is it…

Wicca: Part 2 – The Craft Explained
I would like to start out this second post on my series about Wicca by expressing my appreciation for the overwhelming response to the first post in this series, Wicca: Part 1 – Rise of the Witches. To God be the glory. I also want to take the time to acknowledge the audience of witches who are following and reading these articles by praying for you. “Heavenly Father…I lift up to you those Wiccans who have been led to read this post. My heartfelt cry for them is that You, the Almighty LORD of creation, would allow that the eyes of their heart to be enlightened so that they may…

Wicca: Part 1 – Rise of the Witches
The Wizard of Oz, The Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter, and Jefferson, Iowa. What do they all have in common? Give up? They all have witches in them. The only difference is that the first three are fictional stories set in a make-believe world with actors and actresses playing out imaginary lives . The fourth example, which happens to be my hometown, is not a fabrication. It is a real place with real witches living real lives. Shocking? It shouldn’t be. Statistics as well as experience, say that witchcraft is on the rise. Some of those statistics claim that Wicca (modern witchcraft that claims its origins in ancient paganism) is…
